The White House has welcomed Britain’s decision to ban equipment made by the Chinese tech giant Huawei from its 5G mobile networks. It said it reflected a growing international consensus that Huawei posed a threat to international security as it is beholden by the Chinese Communist Party. Britain’s operators have be…been given just over 7 years to clear their 5G network after Huawei equipment.

President Trump has said he’s not interested in further talk…further trade talks with China at present. Relations between Washington and Beijing have been soured by the coronavirus pandemic, which Mr. Trump said had hit the US before the ink dried on the 1st trade agreement between Washington and Beijing.

The US infectious diseases expert Anthony Fauci says deaths from the coronavirus outbreak in America will probably rise again, but not to the level seen during the 1st phase of the pandemic. The US has reported record numbers of new infections in recent days.

Ghislaine Maxwell, the former girlfriend of the late American financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein has been denied bail. She’s charged with helping him abuse underage girls.

In the German State of Hesse, the chief of police has resigned over suspected police links to a series of neo-Nazi threats. A left-wing politician and 2 prominent women received death threats after a police computer was used to access information about them.

The Trump administration has reversed plans to force foreign students whose courses were to be taught solely online to leave the country. It follows legal action by a number of US universities.

And the British graffiti artist Banksy has posted a video of a new work on the London Underground, apparently encouraging the use of facemasks for coronavirus. In it a man believed to be the secretive artist disguised himself as professional cleaner before spray-painting the inside of a tube carriage.
