The US and China have clashed over coronavirus at the UN General Assembly in New York. President Trump said Beijing has unleashed a plague upon the world, and must be held accountable for the deaths caused by what he called “the China Virus”. The Chinese President X condemned any attempt to politicize the disease. President X also used his speech at the UN to announce plans to make China carbon neutral by 2060. That’s being seen as a significant step in the fight against climate change, as China is the world’s biggest emitter of carbon dioxide.

The UN special rapporteur in Myanmar has told the human rights council that the election there in November will be neither free nor fair. Thomas Andrew said many people were being denied the chance to vote because of their ethnicity race or religion.

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called for a spirit of togetherness urging people to comply with new restrictions he has brought in to combat coronavirus. He said the country was facing a difficult winter ahead.

Police in Cameroon using tear gas and water cannon have clashed with protesters in the commercial capital Douala. Demonstrators have defied a ban on rallies to call for an end to the 40-year presidency of Paul Biya.

The influential Republican US senator Mitt Romney has said he will support the vote to fill the Supreme Court seat left vacant by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. His comment has given a big boost to Mr. Trump’s move to secure a conservative majority on the Supreme Court before the elections.

And international police operation targeting illegals sales on the dark web has resulted in 179 arrests. 6.5 million dollars’ worth of cash and virtual currencies were seized as well as half a ton of drugs and 64 guns.
