1.    The Supreme Court has agreed to review a lower court order blocking President Trump's push to change the numbers from the 2020 census. NPR's XX reports Trump wants to make an unprecedented change to who was counted in the number used to re-apportion seats in Congress.
The constitution requires the numbers that determine each state share of Congressional seats include every person living in each state. The President Trump wants exclude unauthorized immigrants from that count which would lead unprecedented change to how the constitution's language has been interpreted for more than 200 years. A lower court blocked that from happening. And now the Supreme Court is set to hear all arguments on November 30th. The setting of the hearing increases the potential for Trump to try to make this change while he's in the White House.

2.    President Trump delivered his most compassionate speech yet to an audience deeply-affected by the coronavirus. NPR's XX reports the unusual message of comfort at a senior event in south Florida comes as Trump makes a big push for older voters, many of whom had been turned off by his administration's handling of the pandemic.
From Nani Mani, a Florida pollster with Ben Dicson Amondi calls the President speech in Florida a radical shift from his usual approach, which Mani describes as podnishes___ in your face.
"This dramatic change of tone implies he scares, he generally scares about losing this election."
Polls in Florida show an exceptionally close race and it's difficult to see how Trump wins the state without the support of voters here over 65 who four years ago overwhelmingly supported Trump.

3.    Meanwhile, Democratic challenger Joe Biden is in Michigan today visiting two cities. In Southfield Biden told a united auto workers crowd that Trump wants to eliminate pre-existing conditions from the Affordable Care Act, but that if he is elected he will strengthen the provisions of the Act.
"___ if I become your president, we'll build on the Affordable Care Act no matter what they do. You can choose to keep a private plan if you still has one. You do some of the private plans. You negotiate with UNW and other good plans."
He is holding another rally in Detroit at this hour. And the Biden Campaign says former President Barack Obama will make his first in-person campaign appearance on behalf of his former vice president next week. Obama will appear with Biden next Wednesday in Philidelphia.

4.    US has now surpassed 8 million cases of coronavirus with more than 118,000 deaths according to Johns-Hopkins University. This is as cases rise sharply in some parts of the country. Eight states including Michigan, and Ohio reported record numbers of new cases this week.

5.    Wall Street has made a territory by the closing bell, the DOW up 120.......

6.    The number of children who die each year has plummeted over the last two decades. That's one of several hopeful takeaways from statistical roundup published in the journal the Lancet柳叶刀杂志 this week. NPR's XX has more.
These data, part of a project called the global burden of disease are collected annually by researchers at the University of Washington. Between the year of 2000 and 2019, the annual number of children who die before reaching age 5 dropped from to 9.6 million to 5 million. The researchers then did a statistical analysis which indicates that a major reason for the decline in child death is that over the same time period people in poor countries substantial gains in income, education, and the status of women. When countries develop on this line they tend to reduce the risk factors like poor sanitation and nutrition. They drive illness and death in children.

7.    British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's office says trade talks with the EU are effectively over and that the country has to prepare for a no deal break with the bloc. That despite EU leaders declaring the negotiations will continue next week. But Johnson's office says the talks are over unless the EU changes its approach. Each side says the other has to change course in order to secure a deal before the post-Brexit transition period expires at the end of December.
