There are now more than 8.7 million confirmed cvi in the US with deaths surpassing 226,000. NPR's XX reports, the data from the Johns-Hopkins CV Resource Center shows cases are climbing in practically every state.
  Wisconsin has broken its one day record in deaths and cases. And Pennsylvania, a battle ground state in next week's election has also reported a record number of new daily cases. Pennsylvania's previous record was just set on Friday. Data show there were more than 66,000 new confirmed infections nationwide Monday. And at least 7 states saw record high infection levels this weekend. According to the Covid tracking project nationwide hospitalizations continue to increase. Monday's numbers were the highest they have been since August 19th. More than 42,000 were hospitalized with the virus.

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer辉瑞制药公司 said today it's on track to deliver enough of its Covid-19 vaccine to immunize 15 million Americans by year's end. As NPR's XX explains the company has not yet ready to seek regulatory clearance to the vaccine.
  Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said on a call with investors that the company is still waiting for results from a large study designed to show whether the vaccine works. That data will be necessary to convince the Food and Drug Administration to give the company permission to distribute the vaccine. The FDA also wants evidence that the vaccine is safe and doesn't cause any unacceptable side-effects. Bourla said he expect that the company will have data evidence by the third week in November. The FDA has said its review of Pfizer's safety and efficacy data will likely take weeks.

Philadelphia’s business owners have boarded up store windows there as the city prepares for a second night of possible protests over the police killing a black man. NPR's XX reports, Walter Wallace was shot and killed after his family called for medical help.
  Walter Wallace's family says the 27-year-old man suffered from mental health condition and they had called for an ambulance. Police responded and shot Wallance during a confrontation. Witness say he was holding a knife. Philadelphia's district attorney Lerry Prasner says prosecutors are reviewing evidence including police body camera footage. No charges have been filed yet. Prasner called for calm in the city.
  "My message to people who want the world to be a better place is let us to get out there and peacefully express ourselves. Let us peacefully protest."
  At least 90 people were arrested during the first night protest. About 30 officers were injured.

The US Preventive Services Task Force has recomended lowering the age of screening for colon cancer结肠癌 to 45.
Previous recommendations calls for screening to start at age 50. NPR's XX has more.
  The independent panel of health experts cites an alarming increase in colon cancer among people under 50. For those with no family history of the disease is suggested one of the number of screening method including yearly mail in stool sample tests as well as call a calling ask_____ which is typically done every 3-10 years depending on their individual’s risks. The tests can detect early stage colon cancer and pre cancer as p___. The recommendations are now opened for public comment. If finalized, it could change the standard of care and lead to insurance coverage for a colon cancer screening starting at age 45. Colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death in the US.

One sector of the US economy the the communities to hold up during the cvp is housing. And the 20-city index of home prices showed continued growth in August. The Case-Shiller home price index凯斯席勒房价指数 that covers much of the major US housing market showing home prices up a strong 5.2% from a year earlier. That gain was even stronger than many economists have predicted. The biggest price jumps were Phoenix, Seattle and San Diego. Overall the cities covered saw gains.
