He said his troops were in the process of looking for dissident TPLF leaders responsible for the rebellion. There is no independent confirmation of the prime minister’s assertion. More than 40,000 people have fled the fighting in Tigray. The UN refugee agency says Sudan will need 150 million dollars to provide water, shelter and health services.

There have been calls for restraint following the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist in an ambush near Tehran. The Iranians have blamed Friday’s killing on Israel.
