The Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has declared that the federal government army is now fully in control of Mek'ele, the Capital of Tigray province after more than three weeks of fighting. He said his troops were in the process of looking for dissident TPLF leaders responsible for the rebellion. There is no independent confirmation of the Prime Minister's assertions.
More than 40,000 people have fled the fighting in Tigray. The UN refugee agency says Sudan will need 150 million dollars to provide water, shelter and health services.
There have been calls for restraint following the assassination of Iran's top nuclear scientist in an Ambush near Tehran. The Iranians have blamed Friday's killing on Israel.
There've been reports of more demonstrations by anti-government protesters in several Iraqi cities including Nasiriyah, where dozens returned to a central square. At least five people have been killed.
Police in Paris have used water cannon against a radical fringe at a largely peaceful protest against the proposed security law. The bill would make it an offense to put footage of the security forces on the internet with malicious intent.
Thousands of people have again been protesting in cities across Poland against the court ruling that introduced as a near total ban on abortion. At the start of the March, demonstrators renamed a junction in central Warsaw, Women's Rights Roundabout by hanging a temporary placard over the street's sign.
At least 40 people have been killed in Northeast Nigeria, a region where both Boko Haram and Islamic state West Africa group are active. Reports say the victims were farmers near Maiduguri in Borno state.
Italian football club AS Roma has thanked the army for removing several second world war bombs found in its training ground during building work. At least 20 of the devices were unearthed at the turf area facility.
