1. Dr. Anthony Fauci says family gatherings should be kept under 10 people through the holiday season, especially if people are travelling. Fauci made the remarks during an appearance with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. More from NPR's Brian Mann.
Cuomo has drawn criticism from some conservatives form implementing an emergency rule restricting private family gatherings in New York to ten or fewer people. Some upstate sheriffs have refused to enforce the rule. But Dr. Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said most gatherings should be even smaller.
"Ten may even be a bit too much. It's not only the number, but it's the people who might be coming in from out of town."
Fauci said he expects coronavirus cases to continue surging nationwide into January as holiday gatherings infect more people. Meanwhile Cuomo says he may again ban indoor restaurant dinning in NYC, if hospitalizations keep rising.
2. President-elect Joe Biden has chosen California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to be his Secretary of Health and Human Services. Biden also chosen Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Chief of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, as he shapes his health team to take on the coronavirus pandemic.
Biden takes office January 20th. In last week, he formally tapped Dr. Anthony Fauci, the national top infectious diseases expert, to be his chief medical adviser on the virus.
More than 283,000 Americans now have died from Covid-19. About 100,000 people are in the hospital.
3. Doses of Covid-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer at a German firm BioNTech have arrived in the UK. As NPR's FFFLLL from London reports, hospitals will begin immunizations tomorrow.
The largest immunization program in British history kicks off Tuesday. Because the vaccine must be stored at minus 94 degrees Fahrenheit, 50 hospitals with the necessary cold storage infrastructure will administer the first doses. Priority will be given to frontline health staff, people over 80 and nursing home workers. Nursing home residents will initially have to travel the hospital to get their vaccinations because the ultra-cold storage requirements. Pfizer says its vaccine is 95% effective, and recipients must get two doses 21 days apart.
UK is the first country to approve this vaccine, other nations around the world would be watching to see how Britain delivers it and how effective that proves to be.
4. As US economy show signs of slowing as 2020 winds down, a group of economists believe that situation will change by the second half of next year. The National Association for Business Economics in its latest survey, saying about 3 quarters of its members polled believe the economy will return to its pre-pandemic levels by late next year.

6. Paul Sarbanes, a five-term former US Senator from Maryland has diet. He died over the weekend at the age of 87. As XXX from member station WYPR in Baltimore reports, the Democrat was known as the champion of the Chesapeake Bay.切萨皮克湾.
Paul Sarbanes, probably was best known for the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, meant to hold executives more accountable, a reaction to Enron安然公司 and other corporate accounting scandals.
