US Capitol police are warning of a new possible plot by violent extremists to storm the Capitol tomorrow, NPR’s Ryan Lucas has more in the threat.

The Capitol police say they have obtained intelligence that shows a possible plan by a militia group to try to breach the Capitol this Thursday. The department does not identify the militia by name, but it says it is taking the intelligence seriously. The statement notes that the Capitol police have already beefed up security around the Capitol complex to protect lawmakers and the public. The FBI and Department of Homeland security also issued a joint intelligence bulletin over night that warns about domestic extremists discussing possible violence targeting the Capitol around March 4th. Ryan Lucas NPR news Washington.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he will not be resigning following allegations of sexual harassment or misconduct involving at least 3 women. NPR’s Hansi Lo Wang reports Cuomo denies touching anyone inappropriately.

Speaking at his first press conference since the allegations became public, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he will fully cooperate with an ongoing investigation by New York State Attorney General.

“I could intend no offence but if they were offended by it, then it was wrong, and if they were offended by it, I apologize.”

Cuomo urged the public to wait for the results of the investigation before forming an opinion. New York State Attorney General is also looking into claims that Cuomo’s administration has been dishonest about how many people living in nursing homes have died from covid-19. Nomination of Xavier Becerra to be President Biden’s secretary of Health and Human Services hit a potential snag today, when a senate committee vote ended in a tie. NPR’s Selena Simmons-Duffin reports on what happens next.
The senate finance committee vote was 14-14, along party lines. Under senate rules the nomination still goes to the full senate, and democratic majority leader Chuck Schumer is expected to bring it up for a vote before the full Senate soon. But Xavier is a California attorney general, a former congressman and would be the first Latino to run HHS. Republicans have united in opposition to him arguing he doesn’t have the right experience and pointing to his record of supporting reproductive rights. When the nomination is voted on by the full senate, it is expected to be very close. Selena Simmons-Duffin NPR news.

Flood waters in Eastern Kentucky have begun receding in some counties. But many road ways remain under water there as Karen Boyer of member station WEKU reports, local officials say the flooding is reaching new record level.

The damage from flooding is wide spread. But a dam that is under pressure from flood waters in Breathitt County has been stabilized. That’s according to the County’s emergency management director Chris Friley who says this flood surpassed the last big one which hit in 1984.

There is a scene that was under water, their homes, commerce, goblets are probably washed out.

An official in Owsley County says flooded roads have left some stranded in their houses, water and mud slides have damaged several homes and business. The flooding has also postponed damage assessment from a massive winter storm 3 weeks ago that impacted much of Eastern Kentucky. For NPR news I’m Karen Boyer in Lexington.

Police now say they have made an arrest following a 15 months long investigation in to vandalism at a group of rock formation in Salem New Hampshire called America’s Stonehenge. Police say they have charged 51 year-old Mark Russo of New Jersey with one count of felony criminal mischief. Russo was accused of defacing the rock tablet using what appears to a power tool, as well as knocking the formation over. It was carved with a model affiliated with the group QAnon, the site has drawn believers who say it’s a one thousand or more year-old structure, sceptists say the eveidece suggests it was a work of 19th century shoe maker.
