The capital of Burkina Faso is under curfew after a dramatic day which began with gunfire from angry soldiers. Protestors came out in support of the mutiny, burning down the headquarters of the ruling NPP Party. The soldiers are demanding the replacement of military chiefs and more help in their campaign against the intensifying Islamist insurgency.

The World Health Organization’s European Director says the Continent could be moving towards the end of the coronavirus pandemic after the Omicron wave. But he warned it was difficult to predict how the virus would devolve, and that Covid will still be present in the future.

International nursing organizations are warning a chronic shortage of nurses around the world has been made worse by the pandemic. A new report says issues of underfunding, staff shortages, and burnout must be addressed to avoid a global healthcare disaster.
