Been here Denmark, few results that’s the message behind the organiser of the think tank Copenhagen Consensus Center, Bjorn Lomborg. The Danish professor who is at the climate change summit in Copenhagen says the world is wasting money on tackling carbon emissions with \ expensive environmental initiatives.

“The climate economists are telling us that cutting carbon emissions is actually quite expensive right now. Because we really don’t have good
technologies to pick up on. So we can spend a lot of money to cut a little carbon and to do very little good for the future.”

Cutting carbon emissions was the focus of the United States on Monday. The Environmental Protection Agency announced steps towards regulations for greenhouse gas emissions without legislation from US Congress. Lisa Jackson with the Environmental Protection Agency announced the changes.

Beginning in 2011, large emitters will for the first time, submit publicly available information that will allow us to meaningfully track greenhouse gas emissions over time. It also means that we arrive at the climate talks in Copenhagen with a clear demonstration of our commitment to facing this global challenge.”

But Lomborg doesn’t think the right effort will come out of the Copenhagen summit.

“Well, if I
found given speculate what will happen here, every billy has been on track for several years to come out and promise quite large carbon cuts. All across the board now that sounds really good, but of course we’ve done that twice already, we did, we made the same promises as re-own 1992. We made even grander promises in Kyoto in 1997. We haven’t a little double to any of them.”

World leaders are scheduled to attend the summit later next week. Maryam Behmard, Reuters.
