[Homework]【整理】2011-11-27&12-03 美国政府破产的故事 (2/3)

so where is all that money going. well first the military takes the biggest chunk.726 billion dollars in 2011, wa, we could build a lot better future with that amount of money. spending billions on fight planes that we do not need or wars with no end and saying we were broke just isn't honest, it is like calling you kid from you million dollar yard to tell you can afford her school lunch money. then hundreds of billions go to the  propoting our dinosaur economy. you know the obvious system we are talking about in the story of the staff. the one produces more pollution, green houses gases and garbage  than any other in earth.and doesn't even make him happy. in so many ways it is just not working. but we are keeping our life support instead of building something better. a lot of that life support comes from the form of subsidies. a subsidy is a giveaway that gives some companies a lift over the others. that's not necessarily a bad thing. we should have companies that help us to build a better future. the problem is our government keeps lifting up companies that actually draging us down. everywhere you looking along the dinosaur economy, you find these subsidies. they are spending subsidies, where our government just gives our money away. like payment that benefits big agri business, more helping drive family farms off the cliff. or the less obvious version, when the governments foots the bill for things corporation should pay for themselves. like cleaning up toxic chemical bills or join lie styles when upons or building roads that only go to one place like new walmart. or paying for polluting or wasting for garbage, we never make funny sense to build on their own. then the tax subsidies which excuse big corporations from  contributing their fair share. like the enormous tax breaks that granted to oil and gas companies, even in times of record profits. these subsidies are amount to billions we should  be collecting and putting to good use. then there is risk transfer subsidies. where our government act as investment bank or insurance companies for corporations doing risky things, like building nuclear reactors, if anything going wrong, we have to cover for them. there is freebie subsidies, our government gives staff that belong to all of us to corporations for cheap or even free, that's billions more we should be collecting but never see. like permits to mine public lands  granted price set at mining law in 1872, really 1872. president grant sign this law to encourage settlement in the west. news flash, it is settled. and all these even doesn't counted as externalized cost. they don't show up any spreadsheets that could amount trillions of dollars including all the damage to the environment, pulic health and climate this dinosaur economy cosis. without loss make these brutal pay, we all pay with the loss of cleaning water, an increased casman cancel. by the time we handle all these subsidies, there isn't any money to pay our bills, forgetting about the better future..
