Homework
For the past five years, I've been investigating this question of where the good ideas come from. It's kind of problem I think all of us are *** interested in it. We want to be more creative, we want to come up with better ideas, we want our organizations to be more innovative.
I've looked at this problem from an environmental perspective. What other spaces that have historical let to unusual rates of creativitiy and innovation? What I found in all these systems, there is a *** pattern that you see again and again that *** to creating a environments that are unusually innovative. One pattern I call the slow hunch, the breakthrough ideas almost never come in the moment of great inside, in a sudden ** inspiration. Most important ideas take a long time to evolve and they spend a long time dormant in the background. It isn't until the idea had two or three years, sometimes ten or twenty years to matrue that it's suddenly becomes successful to you and useful to you in the certain way. And this is *** because good ideas are normally come from the collition between smaller hunches so that they form something bigger than themselves. So you see a lot in the history of innovation, cases of someone who has a half of an idea. There's a great stroy about the invention of the world wild web and Tim Burners Lee. This is a project that Burners Lee worked on for ten years. But when he started it, he didn't have a full vision for this new medium he was going to invent. He started working on one project as side project to help organized his own ***. He scarpped that after a couple years and he started working on another things. And only after about ten years to the full vision of the world wild web coming to being. That is more often to know how ideas happen. They need time to ***, and they spend a lot of time in this ** hunch form.
