It's time to pony  up for prepaid iphones and avoid password scams and quite your mayor obsession already.  I am Bridget Carey and this your  Cnet update.
It's confirmed that iphone is coming to Virgin mobile at the end of June, but you have to drop a hefty  650 bucks to get the 4s that's because there is no 2-year contract. Plans start at $30 a month. And you do the math--- It's technically cheaper in a long run than spending $200 in being tied to a more expensive monthly bill for two years. But you get less talk minutes.
Vrigin uses the Sprint network. And the Android is more your style, Samsun's flagship phone, the Galaxy S III  will soon be available on all carriers, expect this to be a hot seller. It's coming to Sprint and Tmobile on June 21st. Verizon,  AT&T  and Sprint already began taking preorder this week and it will come in white and blue and this summer AT&T will be selling a red version.
There have been several password security breaches this week. After Linkedin confirmed that hackers compromised the user passwords, Eharmony sends out an alert that many of its user passwords were also hacked.  Anyone has been compromised will have their passwords reset and will be prompted  to create a new one. And that's not all. Even the music service  Last.fm has also recommended  its users should  change passwords after discovering some passwords have been leaked.  With all those news of passwords being exposed,  some serious shady websites have popped up. Stay away from websites that asked you to enter your password to see if you've been hacked. I'm seeing it's been popped up on social networks. Even if you think it's trustworthy, do not give some random websites your password to check anything. Just change yourself to be safe. And the biggest danger with password security breaches is hackers will try your password on several sites, like trying to key in many locks to see how many they can open. So make your passwords different for any site that stores your personal information. If it's a word dictionary, it's really easy to crack. If you want something memorable and complicated, abbreviate a song lyric or phrase and spice it up some numbers and upper and lower cases characters.
And today's app to watch is Foursquare. It just got an over haul on design and functionality. The focus is shifted away from race of points and badges, getting crowned mayor of the coffee shop. It's more about discovering  new places  and  reading recommendations from other users. At the center is the explore button, which  pinpoints  the places near you  have bargain or special and which are popular at the moment on Foursquare. Users can also like or comment on other check-ins.
That's your updates for today. For more on stories in today's show visit cnet/update from our studios in NY. I am BC.
