[Homework]2013-10-05 英国消防员罢工以抗议退休年龄延后至60岁

It's been a decade since the firefighters' last walked out. The Fire Brigades Union wants to propose changes will mean firefighters will have to work longer and pay more into their pensions yet receive less in retirement. 80 percent union members work out, here in the Midlands two generations of firefighters stood side by side. David Pete and his son David Junior believe they'll lose out into the changes which they say could see them having to work to their 60s.We are here striking in response to Fire stations to give big message out to the **. This is unsafe for our firefighters and this is unsafe for members of the public.
I've been doing the job for over two decades, and it takes all upon your joins. It's harder and harder and harder for doing the job.
In Leeds, firefighters blame their senior management, claiming they are all looking after themselves and leaving the crews to suffer.
This may be a short strike in duration, but it's already caused its fair share of disruption. The Fire Brigades Union is threatening more industrial action if it doesn't get what it wants. Government will be perhaps quietly worried but it would not want to return to the prolonged industrial action which we saw more than a decade ago.
Back then, the army drove the engine green goddesses, the Union wanted a 40 percent pay rise. Eventually, the strike ended when they were settled for less than half of that.
We do think the strike is totally unnecessary. The age issue the same thing that the FBU did not even list in their points when they made the strike action went for with it, so that is not a part of the strike action. This time they are training the strike breaks. Some brigades including London and Surry hired private contractors to stand in. The public though is being warmed no emergency calls may not be answered.
This four-hour strike has taken place in the middle of the day way from the rush hour when the fire service is the busiest. More disruption is likely.
The Union describes it as a warning shot. I think very clearly is that the least that I can do in terms of strike action this will be a fairly quiet part of the war.
The strike passed off without major incident, the two sides will now resume negotiation. If no one backs down, the firefighters say they'll walk out for longer next time.
