The former U.S. president Donald Trump has been suspended from Facebook and Instagram for at least two years. He’s been banned from Facebook since January for his post about the storming of the U.S. capital by his supporters. Mr. Trump said the ruling was an insult to every person who voted for him.

The UN Humanitarian Chief Mark * has warned that months of conflicts in North Ethiopia have left the area facing a repeat of the devastating famine of 1984. He told the BBC the crops and homes had been destroyed and hundreds of thousands were already experiencing famine conditions.

The Nigerian government said it had suspended Twitter indefinitely two days after the social media platform deleted a post by President Mohammad * which it said violated its policy on the abusive behavior. But Twitter was still working after the statement.

United State has called on the government of Nicaragua to release the opposition leader Christina *, saying she’s been detained on trumped up charges. Christina * is the daughter of the former president *.  

An unofficial tribunal in London has begun hearing first time evidence of alleged human rights abuses against the Uygur people in northwestern China. China has been accused of genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang Province hold the mainly Muslim minority. Beijing says the tribunal has no credibility.

The Canadian Prime Minister * has asked Roman Catholics to demand action from the church after a media report said remains of more than 200 indigenous children had been discovered near a former residential school which it ran. Church officials are reported to have resisted making the records public.

And sections of a leaked U.S. government report on UFOs says there is no evidence of alien spacecraft though some mysterious sightings remain unexplained.
