01. Live from NPR news in Washington, I'm Jack sphere. President buying today announced the US is forming a new Indo-Pacific security alliance with Britain and Australia. That will allow for increased sharing of defense capabilities. That apparently will provide Australia with nuclear-powered submarines among other things by in standing with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in detail for the New Alliance. “Our governments will now launch an 18 month consultation period to determine every element of this program from workforce to trainee requirements, to production timelines, to safeguards Non-Proliferation measures, and to nuclear stewardship and safety to ensure full compliance with each of our nation's commitments of a nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.” Moreover, the new security alliance is also likely to buy China as a provocative move. Angelenos will need to keep their vaccine cards handy when they head out to indoor bars breweries and nightclubs. Employees of those venues also must have one dose by October 7th, and both by November 4th. A recent negative test won't get you past the bouncer. The LA County Health order also means big changes for outdoor mega events, which will for the first time, includes theme parks like Universal Studios. By October 7th everyone working or attending an outdoor mega event will need to prove they are fully vaccinated or show a negative COVID test 72 hours prior. Health officials say the vaccine verification is needed to stop the cycle of Coronavirus surges. For NPR News, I'm Jackie XXX in Los Angeles.

03. In Colorado, the state attorney general is found the Aurora Police Department has a pattern and a practice of racially biased policing and excessive use of force. Colorado public radio Allison Sherry reports. Normally investigations of local and state law enforcement take place at the federal level, but state attorney general Phil Weiser got the power to open his own investigation into police conduct from the legislature in 2020. He launched the investigation into the Aurora police department after the high profile death of an unarmed black massage therapist named Elijah McLean. In his findings Weiser says the department routinely uses too much force and stops residents with no legal basis. Under a consent decree, Aurora will now be compelled to train officers to change their practices. For NPR News, I'm Allison Sherry in Denver.

04. SpaceX is on the verge of blasting a billionaire into orbit with two contest winners and a healthcare worker who survived childhood cancer. They're said to launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
On Wall Street, the Dow was up 236 points today, you're listening to NPR.

05. Grey wolves in the western US may again get federal protection under the Endangered Species Act. NPR’s Nathan Robb reports federal wildlife officials are going to review the species status after a number of environmental and indigenous groups petition for protections. Wolves have been without federal protection in three western states since 2012. Federal protections in other states disappeared last year when the Trump administration took grey wolves off of the endangered species list altogether. Since then, states have been allowed to manage wolf populations, which has led to increasingly aggressive hunts of the iconic predator. ???Singles, changes, a handful of environmental groups and a coalition of tribal nations have called for an emergency relisting of the species. US Fish and Wildlife Service says that may be warranted, and will conduct a full review. Nathan Robb, NPR News.

The San Francisco based company says the law passed by the New York City Council in July is unconstitutional and violates consumer privacy. The law requires delivery companies to share data on customer’s names, addresses and phone numbers with any restaurant that requests that information.
