1.        Some social media executives came under fire on Capitol Hill today. NPR’s K reports they were questioned about problems effecting younger users after a face book whistle blower released documents showing the potential harm detains mental health from social media.
“Representatives from snapchat, tiktok, and google’s instragrim , emphasizing steps their companies have taken to p;rotecft young users but K democratic senator B was not convinced.
“Being different from face book is not a difference that bar is in the gutter, it’s not a defense to say that you are different.”
Much of the outrage and attack has been focused on face book which is facing a barrage of criticism over a leaked internal research and reports.
Now lawmakers are widening their focus to other apps even more popular with teens. Face book and google are among NPR’s recent financial supporters.

2.        American singers are backing away from last year’s calls to defund the police, that’s according to new survey by the pure research center.
“Last summer at the height of the George Florid protest, Pure asked a sampling of us idols about funding for police in their communities, and about 25% said it should be reduced, by September of this year, that number had fallen to 15%. At the same time the percentage warning more spending on police roads from 31% to 47%. Whites were more likely to back more funding, those support has grown faster than blacks. The shifts since last year coincides with increase in shooting and murders around the country and the sample of pure survey with a big jump in respond and saying violent crime is “very big problem””.

3.        Ohio police say the suspected gunman in Monday’s deadly shooting sprayed a B mall has now died at a local hospital. NPR’s K reports two people in the mall were killed and at least four others injured in the attack including a police officer.
“Police here have released more details in what appeared to be a chaotic and terrorizing scene inside the B town square mall Monday. Authorities say a heavily armed gunman dressed in all black opened fire inside the mall first killing a security officer who tried to confront him, he then proceeded to fire multiple wounds shooting a man on a escalator who later died at a hospital. Two women were also hit but they are said to be recovering from injuries. Moments later police say the gunman was outside the mall in a heavily traffic area where was a fire fight with police officers.The authorities are still searching for a motive, but they believe the man was acting alone.”

4.        Powerful storm has begun moving up northeastern US coast with officials warning could bring intense flooding in their hurricane force winds to some spots. National weather survey say nor’easter already soaked parts of New Jersey with five inches of rain.

5.        Latino representatives on television remains low, as according to NCLA’s latest Hollywood diversity reported.

NCLA has been tracked the data for the past 8 years. AS NPR’s M explains once again the team found women, Latino, Asian, and indigenous people severely under represented on TV.
“The latest Hollywood diversity reports looked that script shows during 2019,2020 season. It found that although 18.5% of the US population identified as Latino or Hispanic, only about 7% of the lead roles on Tv were played by Latino actors. On cable and digital tv , they played fewer than 5% of the leads behind the camera , the gap was even worse just 5.4% of the directors of broadcast tv episodes were Latino and 3% to 3.5% of them directed cable and digital Tv episodes. Among tv writes fewer than 5% were Latino.”

6.        According to the officials in the US and Europe say they have arrested 150 people and seized ten of millions of dollars in the international drug trafficking investigation stemming from sales on the so called dark net.
The justice department says the arrest connected with ten months of investigation and involving federal law enforcement officials in the US and in Europe. Prosecutors alleged those charged in the case responsible for tens of thousands of illegal sales. The Justice department says its investigator seized 31.6 million in cash and virtual currency and 45 guns.

7.        Crude oil future prices move higher today. Oil up 1.1% on the New York Mex exchange.
